Position Summary
The financial analyst will support the financial management and research administration services of the Department of Biostatistics.
Subject to business needs, a hybrid work arrangement may be utilized for this position.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000. The Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
Responsibilities
Salary Funding Source Tracking: 60%
Management and maintenance of various financial analyses and reports used to forecast payroll for Faculty and other department research personnel; including fiscal year budget forecasting, maintenance of "other support" documents, and other related ad-hoc reporting. Responsible for collection and maintenance of proper documentation for salary payroll allocations.
Sponsored Project Budget Management (post-award): 20%
Assist the department's senior financial analyst with tracking and reporting to PIs and DA on burn rates and any overruns on specific budget categories.
Creation and active management of invoice tracking system for outbound subawards; timely follow-up on delinquent invoices; prompt notifcation to Biostats PI and DA of serious irregularities; and facilitation of the payment process with the department's grants manager and senior financial analyst.
Tracking of outside department personnel salary on grants in Biostats. Develop system to regularly monitor salary charges for non-department faculty/staff on sponsored projects in Biostatistics; outreach to outside department contacts on spending that is lagging or is over-budget; prompt notification to Biostats PI and DA of serious irregularities.
Sponsored Project Proposals and Progress Reports: 10%
Assist the department's grants manager with sponsored project budget preparation, pre- and post-award, and with obtaining required investigator documents for proposals and progress reports; outreach to both internal and external faculty/researchers/institutions. Other related duties as assigned.
Fee for Service Unit: 5%
Management of internal invoice creation and payment via journal entry for department service centers.
