Database Developer

Job Description:

We are looking for experienced and quality-minded Database Developers to help build out our platform. Typical projects include creating rich interactive applications, scaling up large transactional systems, building a state of the art web-based reporting and data analysis system, and developing web 2.0 collaboration tools.

Responsibilities of the Database Developer:

Deliver, as part of a cross-functional software team, new and innovative platforms, products, and/or product functions for schools, districts, and states across the country.
Create data marts, scale up large database systems, build a state of the art web-based reporting and data analysis system, and / or integrate our platform with third parties and customers.
Contribute to continuous improvement of software development best practices in the use of various flavors of SQL (including PL/SQL and PostgreSQL).

Requirements of the Database Developer:

BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
1 to 15 years of experience with SQL in a development role.
1 to 15 years of experience with at least one OO programming language such as Java, C# or C++, Python or Ruby.
Strong CS fundamentals (OO, Algorithms, Data structures).
Familiarity with UNIX tools.
Taste for simplicity and elegance in technical design.
Appreciation for test-driven development, and building software the right way.
Experience writing ETL Processes and experience integrating with terabyte scale data systems preferred.
